#MeToo: After Kannada film industry, Nadigar Sangam is now setting up an anti-sexual harassment committee


After several charges under the #MeToo movement, the South Indian film industry is now setting up internal committees to address issues related to abuse and sexual harassment. The Kannada film industry has such an internal committee and now the Tamil film industry has decided to set up for the industry. The River Ganges of the Actor Sangh released a statement saying that they will soon establish a Sexual Harassment Committee which will address issues already present and issues of new issues. In the body, female artists and filmmakers will be involved with a psychologist who will build the group. Last night, in Chennai, President Nassar and Khajanchi Karthi announced the statement and said more information will be announced soon.

The river Ganges also said that all the union of the Tamil film industry will be in the jurisdiction of the committee, under the guidelines of the Vishakha Committee including technicians, artists and junior artists. Nasar also urged the Tamil film producer council to be included in the list of unions under the authority of the above committee.

After many accusations against songwriter Vairamuthu, singer Karthik and many other filmmakers in Tamil, senior citizens of the film industry have now taken steps to make women a safe place for the industry. While victims like Chinnamayee and others are fighting their legal battle with the accused, it is not clear whether the committee will resolve these issues and take action against them.
